现阶段的「信息化系统」行之多年，是致力于企业部门间效率改进历程的专用名词（作者对信息化解释只锁定于企业层次，并不上纲到社会层次），通过IT技术实现工作和生活价值的提升，是整合科技通信、网络、数据库技术为基础，将数据(Data)予以整理并转化为信息(Information)，给企业或工作者使用。其过程注入许多运算逻辑而发展出所谓的信息化系统。例如：企业普遍使用的「企业资源计划系统」「ERP」、「办公室自动化系统」「OA」。信息化系统通过人和电脑处理工作流程的计划和控制数据，解决数据纸制的抄录工作、传送工作、整理工作等，其间，IT技术扮演过程传输和运算的重要角色。信息化系统需要更多人脑去判别数据和信息，再通过工作电脑输入思考后的决定，以形成所谓的「决策」。

「信息化系统」建立了以「数据」转化为「信息」的过程，提供需求者终端查阅与打印阅读方式，也就是说「数据或信息在这里了，你来看吧」的应用结点，而信息技术能量则以流程控制、逻辑处理、基础数据编表、汇总统计、统计比较、时间序列信息、微量参数变数计算、简易数学计算为主轴，但基于用户端特定需求，偶然会提出碎片式的高难度计算，如三维度内的综合交叉计算，也算是「轻量智能化」。若以精益方法推进说，信息化的工作数据流发展三项：计划(Plan)、执行(Do)、检核(Check)。

左上角黑色粗箭头为信息化的起点，通过原始纸本数据，开启工作任务的数据的流动管理。人员将原始表单输入系统，系统执行简单的逻辑判断，传送到第二个工作任务，工作人员或被系统以消息通知或开启功能程序了解是否有工作任务要做，进而执行第二个工作任务。某些工作任务数据需要通过加工（计算）转换信息报告才能传送或储存后，再通知或传送给第二工作任务。通常信息化系统处理数据或信息，以主动或被动方式告知或储存，工作人员都需通过「看」、「思」、「决」三步骤后，再通过系统输入决定，再往第二流程工作任务，整个工作任务流程依循业务需要而制定，大部分的信息化系统都以前述思路而设计。
